Direct bank delivery
Instead of a Gmail filter, you can give your bank your Tap Track address as the email for transaction alerts. The bank then emails Tap Track directly. It works from your phone, in the bank's own app. You choose per bank, and can mix it with Gmail forwarding.
The trade-off:
Most banks send alerts to one email address only. Once you change it, those alerts stop arriving in your own inbox: you see them in Tap Track instead. If you'd rather keep them in your inbox, use the Gmail filter for that bank.
Steps
- In the Tap Track app, open setup, choose Direct from bank for that bank, and copy your private Tap Track address.
- In your bank's app or online banking, find the email used for transaction alerts and replace it with your Tap Track address. Tap Track shows where to look for each bank. We're still confirming these places with each bank, so the app marks them "verify in your app".
- Some banks send a code or a link to confirm the new address. Tap Track shows it in setup for 24 hours. You enter the code in the bank's app, or open the link, yourself: Tap Track never confirms anything for you and never opens the link.
- Test it with a small payment above your alert threshold. Setup turns green when the first alert arrives.
Good to know
- The email comes straight from the bank with its signature intact, so Tap Track checks it is really from that bank before reading it. Mail that fails the check goes to Needs review.
- The bank's verification email is kept for 24 hours only, then deleted. See the privacy policy.
- Not every bank lets you change the alert email, or allows a second address.See coverage for each bank.
